Literature Text

The St. Patrick's Day parade has already come to a close and you are about to go home when you are stopped by the last person you expect to see in the whole wide world, your ex-boyfriend, Allistor Kirkland.

"Hey, Love. I didn't expect to see ye here!" He says with a smirk that you had always found sexy, even up to now.

What the hell is he doing here? I thought he was back in his country, doing his research for "Nessie"?!

"Oh, yeah, I forgot to mention... I decided to go back. Me brothers and sister say Arthur's been driving them mad ever since I left." He says as if he just read your mind.

You feel the blood rise to your cheeks the moment you look up to him. He's still the same as ever. He's still drop, dead gorgeous. He still had that messy auburn hair, that nose-bleed inducing accent, those green eyes that almost always look bored, and not to mention, a really annoying cigarette stick on his mouth.

"Anyway, how you've been, love? It's been five months since I last saw ye." He asks.

"We're not dating anymore, Allistor. Stop calling me love." You frown at the sight of said cigarette stick and when he notices it, his smirk widens and he throws it away.

"Sorry. Force of habit. Anyway, ye want to go hang out with me today? For old times sake?" He asks, causing your frown to grow more evident.

On St.Patrick's Day last year, the two of you officially became boyfriend and girlfriend. So if the two of you hadn't break up, you would have already been dating for one whole year. And now you're finding it ironic that he's asking you to go hang out with him on your supposed "first-year anniversary" all "for old time's sake".

"No thanks." You answer before walking away from him, and he suddenly grabs a hold of your arms and scoops you up to carry you bridal style.

"Wh-What the hell do you think you're doing, you... you wanker!" You scream in protest as you struggle to get yourself down.

"Tsk. Tsk. Ye should really stop hanging around Arthur, Love." He says.

"It's a thousand times more fun than hanging around you, anyway!" You retort, now trying to punch his chest. "And stop calling me "love", god damn it."

Then Allistor's expression instantly darkens, making you cover your mouth and think: What have I done?! You know how much he hated being compared to his younger brother, and you just admitted that being with Arthur was better than being with him.

"I... Uh... I didn't mean to say that... You see, people are staring and I wanted you to let go..." You start stammering out excuses while silently praying to yourself that he won't go berserk and throw you to the nearest wall.

"It's fine, lassie." He says as he gently puts you down. "I guess I should just go. Sorry for bothering ye." Then he proceeds to leave you alone, looking slightly crestfallen.

You look at him in bewilderment, you are expecting him to get angry at you and all, and now he's just gonna leave you alone? But your feelings of confusion and amusement turn into guilt as you watch his retreating figure.

Maybe I was being too harsh? Maybe he really wanted to catch up on things? Ugh... I should really stop acting like a bitter bitch.

"Hey, Allistor! Allistor!" You hurriedly chase after him while calling out his name. However, he seems to be ignoring you and continues walking away and by the time you finally catch up, you are already panting for breath and clutching on to your chest. "I was calling out to you, didn't I? Are you deaf?"

"Maybe." He says and now you can see that he's wearing a smirk again. "Did ye change your mind?"

"Yeah. I did." You answer and you notice his smirk widen as if he's enjoying himself. "Jerk."

"Did ye say somethin', lassie?"

"Nothing." You quickly answer, you really didn't want to upset him anymore. "Where do you want to go, then?"

He comes closer to you and puts one of his arm around your shoulders, just like he always did when the two of you were together. "To the pub!"

"Why didn't I get the feeling that you'd say that?" You groan.

"Oh, come on. Don't be so down! It's traditional to drink beer when it's Saint Patrick's!"

"Yeah, Yeah whatever."

The two of you visit a lot of pubs, but somehow the two of you wouldn't even stay for half an hour. And it's all because Allistor doesn't like the beer being served... or Allistor has unintentionally started an all-out brawl... or creepy, weird guys start hitting on you. And when the two of you finally settled in a decent one, Allistor's younger brother, Arthur, and his friends suddenly arrived, making the two of you leave once more.

"I think I have another place in mind. Let's go, lassie." He tells you the moment you walked out of what seems to be your eleventh pub.

"If that's another ruddy pub again, I'm gonna give you one swift kick in the balls and refuse to hang out with you ever again, Allistor!" You scream. "I've visited enough pubs to last me a lifetime, for crying out loud!"

"Nah. That's not it."

He grabs your hand and quickly walks away, pulling you along with him. You follow him without a single word of protest but you involuntarily twitch once you see where the two of you are headed.

It's the village's clock tower. It's the place where the two of you always had your "picnic dates". It was a really beautiful place, you could over-look the whole village and you also get a clear view of the sky.

"Something wrong, lass?" Allistor asks when he notices that you had stopped walking.

"Why here?" You ask quietly. "We used to have our dates here all the time."

"Aye, I know." He says in a matter-of-fact tone. "I chose this place cause the town mayor said there will be fireworks tonight. And I thought that maybe ye'd like to get the best view or something."

"I... I see." You say as you shake the memories of your past dates off of your head.

The two of you climb up the clock tower and settled on the balcony without speaking to each other . Allistor looks up to watch the sky while you watch the festivities in your village below.

"Lass?" He says, not taking his eyes off of the vast expanse of inky darkness dotted by an indefinite number of stars.

"Hmmmm?" You look up to him to tell him that you're listening.

"Can ye tell me how, exactly, we broke up?"

You furrow your eyebrows at his question. Truth be told, the two of you just sort of... drifted apart. Ever since he moved back to Scotland, communication between the two of you became poorer.. Sure there was this thing called "e-mail", but somehow, a long-distance relationship between the two of you never worked out.

"Uhmm... Well... I don't know."

"So we really haven't broken up yet?" He asks, and you could've sworn then and there that he almost sounded hopeful.

"Not really... Our relationship just... sorta fell apart, didn't it?" You answer, and then he takes his eyes off the skies to look at you.

"I wish it didn't." He mutters as he raises his hand to caress your cheek. "I missed you."

You are a tiny, bit happy to hear him say that, you still had feelings for him after all, but your happiness turns into annoyance, when you realize one thing. "Well, then, if you really missed me. Then why the hell didn't you send me an e-mail?" You snap, causing him to raise his eyebrow in surprise. "Or maybe a letter if you are feeling a little bit old-fashioned!"

"Ye were the one who stopped sending e-mails, lass. I thought ye hated me or something so I stopped sending 'em." He retorts as he gets his hand off your cheek. "And pshhh... letters? Really, lass? We both know I'm too cool for that."

"What... You were the one who stopped! If I really did receive something from you, your name would instantly appear in my inbox!" You say through gritted teeth, it's clear that he's just bluffing and you're really annoyed that he won't admit to his mistake.

Then he opens his mouth to argue, but he closes it again, then he blinks and runs his hand through his hair. "I... I made a new account cause my old one got hacked."

You are about to ask what he meant, but you stop at mid-question. You are a very private person and you never give away your e-mail address to anyone and whenever you receive some e-mail from someone who isn't in your contacts, you instantly mistook it for spam or some creepy dude's message. Therefore, you delete them without even bothering to check.

"So... So you forgot that I ignore e-mails from strangers?" You ask incredulously. "All this time you've been sending me e-mails and I was ignoring them? Why didn't you warn me you were using a new account?"

"Well, ye never really did open anything that I sent, so how the hell would ye know it's me?"

"Hmmm. Fair point." You say, now feeling a little bit stupid.

"Well, then... Since everything was just some terrible misunderstanding... Then we still ought to be boyfriend and girlfriend." He announces as he pulls you closer to himself. "What do ye reckon, love?"

You stand up and put your back to him as you fold your arms. "Hmmm... I don't know." You tease.

"And to think I've got such a pretty first-year anniversary gift at the ready." He says in a mocking tone, making you tempted to look right back at him.

"I don't care. Keep it."

"Nah. It won't suit me. Well then, I guess I just ought to give this to a hot chick who won't mind having a drink with me later in the pub."

That did it for you, so you turn around to look at him. "So now you're already planning on replacing me, huh?"

"I'd never dream of replacing ye, love. I just said that to make ye face me." He says as he stands up and takes your hand.

Then he pulls something out of his jacket pocket. It was a golden charm bracelet with shamrocks and cute, little hearts, all made out of emeralds, dangling on it.

He wordlessly puts it on your wrist and once he's done you put your wrist up above your head to admire it.

"It's so pretty." You breathed.

"It's not as pretty as ye though." He replies. "Anyway, the shamrocks represent St. Patrick's Day, but the hearts represent our anniversary. Neat, huh?"

"Yeah. I guess so." You nod your head in agreement, and then you look up to him. "Happy Saint Patrick's, love! And happy anniversary, I guess."

"Happy Saint Patrick's Day to ye as well, love." He says as the first green fireworks launch into the starry sky. "And happy anniversary." He finishes before leaning in to give you a kiss.
Finally! Request done for :iconkuruizaki-wolf: Sorry it's so late! I'm being such a coward in releasing this.

But I hope you like it, nonetheless.

This was a bit difficult cause I don't know how Scotland acts and to make matters worse, I have no freaking idea how people celebrate St.Patrick's Day except for the fact that they wear green. But I had fun cause the request seemed like a great challenge to me and I learned a few new things.

I don't own anything but the story, and this story ain't even worth stealing.

Enjoy~

For better reading experience: Listen to this song while reading, especially at the clock tower part! XD [link] I do not own this either.
